ABOUT DANIEL VOELKER
Daniel Voelker was born in 1977 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. After graduating from the “Fachakademie für Fotodesign” in Munich in 2003, Daniel started working as a fashion and portrait photographer before he shifted his focus towards fine art starting with his first exhibition in 2006 in Miami Beach/USA. Since 2009, Daniel has created 'Stamp Mosaics,' which are large-scale, iconic portraits composed of thousands of used vintage postage stamps. These mosaics are assembled by gluing the stamps together one by one, without cutting, painting over, or otherwise altering them in any way. His works are a patchwork of memories intended to make us think. "Analog pixels" that transport the past into the present and thus tell a new story. Daniels work is a tribute to longing, history, heritage and tradition.
Another big part of his work is his love for photography, which inspired him for “Transience”, “Copy of a copy”, “Synth Vanitas”, “Slides”, “Overdose” and “Crossover”. His artworks have been exhibited internationally, including in the USA, Germany, Australia, Bali, and Spain/Mallorca. They are held in notable private collections, such as the collection of Patrick and Fernanda Dovigi as well as “A Private Collection” by Tyrown Vincent in Frankfurt. After traveling the world for over 10 years and living in Australia, Bali, Mexico and the USA, Daniel Voelker commutes between Germany and Mallorca/Spain.
